Woman docked for allegedly receiving stolen property

The Police on Wednesday arraigned a 27-year-old woman, John Glory, at a Kubwa Grade1 Area Court for allegedly receiving stolen property.

Glory of Shelter Farm Byazhin, Kubwa, Abuja, was docked on  a charge of receiving stolen property.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Sonia Philip of the said address reported the matter at Kubwa Area Command, Abuja, on Jan. 4

He said the complainant visited the defendant’s house and discovered her lost LG Home Theatre in the house.

He further said the home theatre was among some items that were stolen from the complainant’s room sometime in December.

Other stolen items included an LG Plasma TV, hand bag, torch light and the sum of N7,000.

The prosecutor said the defendant, however, presented a fake receipt for the home theatre that was seen in her room.

He said that the offence contravened Section 317 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Ibrahim Balarabe, granted the defendant N200,000 bail with one surety who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

He adjourned the case until Feb. 6 for hearing. (NAN).
