A female resident of Haye quarters has been arraigned before a Kano State Sharia Court over possession of a mattress and a visa document belonging to her neigbour’s husband.
The accused person, Adama Bala, was charged with one-count charge of house trespass, an offense contrary to Section 213 of Kano state Sharia Penal Code Law.
Police prosecuting officer, Aminu ‘Yargoje told the court that one Luba Hashima of same address with the accused reported to police that, two years ago she owed the accused person the sum of N3500, but when she failed to pay the accused went to her room while she was away and took away her mattress worth N17, 000.
Prosecutor ‘Yargoje further told the court that two years after the incident, the complainant realized that the said mattress contained her gold earrings valued at N30, 000, a Niger Republic Visa and House certificate of occupancy belonging to her husband.
When the charge was read to the accused person, she admitted taking the mattress but denied seeing the other items as alleged by the complainant.
In view of this, the prosecutor applied for new date to enable police present witnesses
The Presiding judge, Malam Mujittafa Abdulkadir granted the application and adjourned the case to December 17 for continuation of hearing.
