An internally displaced woman taking refuge at the Muhammadu Rabe model school, a temporal camp for Jibia flood victims, Malama Ladidi Unguwar Maikwari has delivered a baby boy, Kano Chronicle, learnt.
Ladidi was among the 1,497 registered victims living at the camp after they were displaced by a flood disaster that claimed several lives in Jibia local government area of Katsina state recently.
The boy, Kano Chronicle gathered has been named Abdulhakim and all expenses for the naming ceremonies were shouldered by the state standing committee on the flood disaster.
In a related development, a 76-yr-old flood victim at the camp, Lawalli Mohammed also from MaiKwari has been confirmed dead.
The deceased was admitted at a make-shift health facility in the camp before his condition deteriorated and rushed to Jibia general hospital where he died.
Confirming the development, the spokesman of the Jibia Local Government, Malam Sa’ad Mohammed, said government was working round the clock to alleviate the sufferings of the IDPs.
