Eighteen-year-old housewife Hindatu Abdullahi of Wuro Boggo village, Duguri District in Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi state has gone on police parade for killing a two weeks old baby boy born to her co-wife Fatima Abdullahi.
Bauchi police paraded the woman alongside suspects for kidnapping and cattle rustling.
Bauchi police spokesman DSP Kamal Datti police in Maina Maji division arrested the woman on August 19 after family members reported the case.
Police said Hindatu fed insecticide to the baby, who fainted and was taken to hospital where he later died.
The head of the household is reported to be away on Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
“The suspect was arrested and also the remaining quantity of the toxic insecticide was also recovered now on the process of scientific examination. Meanwhile the suspect confessed to the offence of which she will be charged to court after investigation,” said the police spokesman.
Meanwhile the command arrested two men, Abubakar Suleiman and Jamilu Usman, for armed robbery at their hideout in Bayan Gari area in the state capital.
Suspected kidnappers Sulaiman Abubakar, Hussaini Abubakar were also arrested at Juwara mountain, Bauchi while four people held hostage by their captors at Gala mountain in Dass local government were rescued.
” The team successfully rescued the hostages as follows; Na’ima Idriss 25, Yakubu Hussaini 45, Inusa Alhaji Usman 13, Ishiaka Lawal 10 and also recovered the following exhibits; one single barreled gun, 3 live cartridges, one cooking pot and one military uniform,"he added.
