A Katsina Magistrate court has remanded one Aisha Idris, 40, in prison for abandoning a day old baby girl in a soakaway in Bagari town of Funtua local government area.
Aisha alongside her lover one Alhaji Ado Goya, who is now at large, had a premarital affair that led to the birth of the child.
According to Police First Information report read (FIR), Aisha’s was charged with intent to commit culpable homicide contrary to sections 97,387,388,237 and 229 of penal code.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Kabir Mohammed told the court that one Murtala Saidu of Bagari Quarters , Funtua reported the matter at Makera Funtua police station.
“This is a case of criminal conspiracy and adultery. And the abandonment of a child is an attempt to commit an offence to wit culpable homicide,” said the prosecutor.
He added that investigation was still in progress, therefore requested for another date for the rcase to be mentioned.
In her ruling, the magistrate Fadila Dikko ordered for the remand of the suspect in prison and adjourned to 20th March, 2017 for mention.
