An Upper Shari’a Court in Kano has remanded a woman, Halima Jubril for allegedly defaming one Jamila Sa’ad, whom she had been working for.
The accused had alleged that Jamila accumulated her wealth through lottery and not hard work or any legitimate business. When the charges were read to her, she asked for her lawyer, who was not available during the court sitting.
The presiding khadi, Abdu Abdullahi Wayya, adjourned the case till Wednesday for hearing and ordered that she be remand at a correctional facility.
