A housewife identified as Fatima Musa reportedly slumped and died shortly after eating breakfast in the Paiko community of Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A neighbour, Shuaibu Bala, said the incident happened on Sunday.
He noted that the deceased was believed to be hale and hearty and had just finished eating the breakfast she prepared. According to Bala, she stood up to take a bath and suddenly collapsed.
He said one of the woman’s sons rushed out of the house to raise an alarm, which quickly attracted the attention of the neighbours.
Neighbours who found her lying on the floor immediately placed a call to her husband, who was away at the time of the incident.
“The husband was not at home; one of the neighbours had to call him before he rushed back and took her to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead,” Bala said.
Following the medical confirmation, she was taken home and buried according to Islamic rites.
Our reporter gathered that the deceased’s husband, Musa Ibrahim, is a retired staff member of the Gwagwalada Area Council.
It was further learned that Ibrahim lost his first wife only a few months ago, prior to the passing of his second wife on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Chairman-elect of the council, Comrade Mohammed Kasim Ikwa, has commiserated with the husband.
Ikwa, who was accompanied on a condolence visit on Monday by the former chairman of the council, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, former Abuja South lawmaker Alhaji Isah Egah Dobi, and some PDP chieftains, expressed shock and sadness over the woman’s demise.
The Chairman-elect prayed for Allah to grant her eternal rest while urging the husband to find solace in accepting the death as the will of Allah.
It would be recalled that a similar incident occurred three weeks ago when a mother of three died in her sleep at her residence along Kuje Road in the same council.
