The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 53-year-old woman and her 28-year-old son in connection with an attempted money ritual in Ile-Oluji in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo LGA.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
He explained that the arrest was achieved through actionable and credible intelligence leveraged by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.
Jimoh said the ritual activity was foiled on December 27, 2025, explaining that operatives swung into action following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
He said, “The operation led to the arrest of two suspects, Maria (53), and her son, Adewale (28).”
He further revealed that a 10-year-old boy, who was allegedly intended to be used as a sacrifice for the ritual, was rescued.
He said, “Preliminary investigations revealed that Maria conspired with her son, Adewale, to engage the services of a herbalist to use the young victim for money rituals.” (NAN)
