The corpse of a young woman, whose name is yet to be ascertained, was discovered around the Jabi district of Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Witnesses reported that the woman’s lifeless body, dressed in blue jeans and a red top, was found by passersby along Abubakar Street, Off Alex Ekwueme Street in Jabi, in the early hours of Saturday.
Residents who spoke with our reporter suggested the woman might have been kidnapped and subsequently killed by suspected “one-chance robbers” operating in the area. Sources indicate the deceased was of Idoma descent, hailing from Benue State.
Some witnesses also speculated that she could be a victim of suspected ritualistic killings or “Yahoo boys” (internet fraudsters).
“I suspect the lady might have been killed by suspected ritualists or these Yahoo boys, who then dump the corpse by the roadside. Although, it’s yet unknown if any part of her body was tampered with,” said Micheal Obinna, a resident of the area.
This incident follows a similar discovery last month, where a young woman was found dead inside a hotel in Gwarimpa, Abuja. In that case, suspected ritualists allegedly removed vital body parts before leaving her in the hotel room.
The FCT police command confirmed that incident and pledged a thorough investigation.
Our reporter contacted the FCT police spokeswoman, SP Josephine Adeh, via WhatsApp regarding the latest incident. She responded, “We are investigating.”
