The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, has flagged off the distribution of food items to women and vulnerable families under the Renewed Hope Food Intervention.

Speaking at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, the Minister underscored the importance of solidarity, calling on Nigerians to share resources with those in need.

The intervention, which distributes food and non-food items, will continue beyond the festive season, with plans for additional rounds in January, said a statement by the ministry’s spokesperson, Ahmed Lawan Danbazau.

Suleiman-Ibrahim highlighted women’s unity and collective strength as key drivers of national progress, urging women to actively participate in governance and decision-making.

“Empowering women is central to building a $1 trillion economy. When women are banked on, they deliver—and pay back in full,” she said, noting initiatives in agriculture, clean cooking gas penetration, fabrication, and grassroots empowerment through the Ministry’s nine-pillar Renewed Hope Social Impact Intervention.

Permanent Secretary Mrs. Esuabana Nko Asanye lauded the Minister’s leadership, emphasizing the role of education, protection of children, and the fight against gender-based violence in achieving national and continental development goals.
