Speaking at a one-day seminar organised for secondary schools girls tagged: “Science is Fun and Innovative,” Dr Edith Odia of business administration department, said the group was worried by the decline in enrolment of girls in science related disciplines.
She said the seminar was borne out of the association’s desire to encourage female participation in science. 
In a lecture entitled: “Career Prospect in Science,” Prof F.E Eiche of pharmaceutical technology department said there were lots of career opportunities available to girls in science related fields.
She said inadequate learning materials, poor motivation, poor quality of teachers and dearth of library in schools were responsible for the decline in girls enrolment in science courses.
She called on the government to fund the teaching of science in schools.
