Women entrepreneurs in Kano state have been sensitised on export techniques with a view to benefiting from foreign exchange business.

The training was organised by the Small and Medium Scale Enterprise Development of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in the state to encourage exportation of locally made products by women entreprenuers.

Speaking at the flagging off of the training, the Director General of SMEDAN, Dr Dikko Umaru Radda, said, the training was conducted in Kano and Imo states respectively.

Represented by SEMEDAN’s Northwest Zonal Coordinator, Alhaji Ahmed Madaki, Dr Radda lamented that Nigeria had the potentials to generate sizeable foreign exchange.

He said over 6,400 Nigerian products were certified for export, adding that it was anticipated that the training would equip a number of Nigerian women with basic knowledge for export.

He said, “Nigeria is not harnessing all its potentials in the area of foreign exchange. The participants will be empowered to exploit foreign exchange opportunities contained in the African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA) and ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme.”

Dr Radda said Nigeria had possessed potential and capacity to generate foreign exchange that would cover its foreign currency requirements.
