The regulatory conditions laid down by the Federal Government for manufacturers of goods are posing a big challenge to women entrepreneurs.
Making their concern known at a meeting with the UN Women delegation that visited Kano recently, the country director of New Faces New Voices Nigeria, Hajiya Aishatu Aminu, said the regulatory conditions were thwarting the efforts of many women entrepreneurs who are financially incapable.
‘We have many women entrepreneurs in our organisation who are producing quality products but cannot penetrate the market because their products have no NAFDAC numbers and because they are poor they cannot afford the cost of such registrations.”
She urged government to consider the position of women in the society, being the less privileged and relax the measures for them so that they could thrive in their various entrepreneurial endeavours.
The UN Women Deputy Country Representative, Adjaraton Faou Ndiaye, said she would ensure women got all the necessary support from the UN Women, adding that she would partner with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to help women achieve their dreams as entrepreneurs.
