The Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Eugenia Abdullah, has disclosed that Governor Monday Okpebholo has achieved 35 per cent women representation in the allocation of cabinet positions in the state.

Mrs Abdullah disclosed this over the weekend while highlighting the ministry’s achievement in the last year’s administration of Governor Okpebholo.

She said the governor has implemented various initiatives aimed at promoting women’s empowerment, economic development, and social welfare in the state.

From allocating 35 per cent of cabinet positions to women, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes, she said, Okpebholo also “approved N1 billion in soft loans for market women to boost their businesses.”

The Commissioner also stated that the ministry has championed women empowerment projects, prioritised girl-child development, and advocated for policies benefiting women and children.

She also disclosed that the ministry will host the 25th edition of the Regular National Council on Women’s Affairs and Child Development between November 10 and 13, 2025.
