The Women in Da’awah Organisation has called for the integration of Islamic, western and vocational education as part of efforts to rebuild Nigeria’s moral and socio-economic fabric.

In a communiqué issued after its 18th annual conference in Damaturu, Yobe State, the group urged political and religious leaders to prioritise women’s education and boost school enrolment to strengthen the moral upbringing of future generations.

The four-day conference, themed “Shaping Tomorrow: The Strategic Role of Muslim Women and Youth in Building Resilient and Righteous Communities,” attracted over 1,000 participants, including scholars, government officials, emirs and community leaders from 16 northern states and the FCT.

The communiqué reaffirmed Islam as a complete way of life, identifying security, justice, knowledge and leadership as foundations of nation-building.

It stressed that Muslim women have historically been leaders and reformers, and empowering them today remains vital for shaping righteous communities.

The organisation recommended policies to promote vocational skills, youth mentorship, halal enterprises and waqf (endowments) for sustainable economic growth.

It also urged the government to tackle insecurity and corruption with urgency, while encouraging Muslim youth to embrace resilience and self-reliance rooted in Islamic values. The group reaffirmed its commitment to establishing a Centre of Excellence for Muslim Women to drive learning, empowerment, and community impact across Nigeria.
