An umbrella body of academic and non-academic staff of colleges of education across the country, the Women in Colleges of Education (WICE), has concluded plans to train its members.

They would be trained on how to support students to pick good project topics and to write them well.

The national president of the association, Dr Ziporrah Duguryil, speaking shortly after her inauguration along with other exco members in Abuja, said the training would help the women to guide the students well considering that it is one of the requirements for graduation of students in colleges of education.

Dr Duguryil, who was before now the coordinator of Northeast zone of the body, took over the mantle of leadership from Mrs. Mary Aibangbe after being elected at the last national conference of the association held in Ekiti State.

She said the training was a way of giving back to the society what it had given them.

She said it was not about picking a project but that the project supervisors must insist that the students learnt something that would help the institutions to produce good and excellent students.

 “At a point you need to give back to the society what it has given to you. We intend to step down ways to the level of our students. We are creating a miniature way where the young girls in schools will have their leaders and will always meet to interact.”

We also want to step it down for them by inviting them and presenting ourselves to them as role models so they can learn from us, she added.

The outgoing president, Mrs. Aibangbe, in her remarks said the association had made remarkable progress over the years both at the international and national levels.
