Women’s empowerment key to national development’ – Zamfara First Lady

The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has called for stronger collaboration towards women empowerment and gender inclusion across Nigeria.

She made the call at the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally 2026 held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

In a statement issued by her Press Secretary, Rabi Yusuf, the First Lady commended the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, for what she described as visionary leadership in advancing the welfare of women.

She described the initiative as a transformative movement aimed at repositioning women as critical drivers of national development.

Speaking on the theme, “The Power of 10 Million: One Voice, One Movement, One Choice,” Huriyya Lawal said empowering women would strengthen families and communities.

She reiterated Zamfara State’s commitment to investing in women through education, economic opportunities and inclusive governance.

The First Lady also urged beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Agenda empowerment initiative to make productive use of the support provided to them.

The rally attracted over 35,000 women from different parts of the country and was attended by the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, wives of top government officials and other stakeholders.
