The ongoing efforts of the federal government to revive railways in the country required workers of the Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC) to be diligent and disciplined if the targeted goals are to be achieved.
The District Manager of the Corporation in-charge of Northern District, Prince Aderemi Isma’il Adebiyi, made this known while presenting 2016 staff outstanding awards to winners in Zaria.
Adebiyi said the gesture was meant to motivate the railway workers to continue
to put in their best for the progress of the corporation because of the sector’s importance to economic development, adding that there must be collective efforts for NRC to regain its former place of pride.
He said; “nowadays, workers do not get overtime, I therefore feel that there is every reason to appreciate some of our staff who distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties. I want to charge all railway workers to be more committed in order to take the corporation to greater heights.”
Earlier, the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Railway Men (NUR), Alhaji Ibrahim Lawal, advised the staff of the district to see the award as a challenge that would motivate them to do more for the achievement of the corporation’s objectives.
