Workers urged to participate in 2019 poll

The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria  (MHWUN) an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has   urged  its members nationwide  to participate fully in the 2019 general elections.

A statement signed by MHWUN National President, Comrade Biobelemoye Josiah encouraged members to take advantage of the process in continuous efforts to build a virile, democratic, better, progressive and prosperous country.

He noted that the union occupies an integral part of the Nigeria Labour Congress and members should ensure they perform their civic responsibility despite challenges which result in delay in meeting some of its key demands.

He said, “Nigeria remains one of the world’s most admired nations, based on its natural and human resources; it must not fail the global community by having an election which is not credible and acceptable.”

Biobelemoye advised political parties and their  candidates not to see  election as a do or die affair, but  a process, and eschew violent act, vote-buying and acts capable of discrediting the exercise.

He commended the arrangements so far made by security agencies but asked them to each uphold the trust bestowed on them and remain apolitical all through the presidential, Governorship, National and state Assemblies elections.
