The Kaduna State government has started disbursement of World Bank supported Global Partnership in Education (GEP)/Nigeria Partnership for Education Project (NIPEP) grant to 2,075 primary schools across the state.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Andrew Nok, said this at the flag-off of the disbursement in Kaduna, noting that the sum of N535million would be disbursed to 2,075 schools, which constitutes the first batch. According to him, the 2,075 schools including 600 pre-primary and 200 Islamiyya schools would receive N200, 000 each as first set of beneficiaries.  The commissioner, who was represented by the ministry’s Director of Schools, Malam Dahiru Anchau, explained that the project, which was expected to last for four years, will cover all the 4,225 primary schools in the state.
He said that by September, another batch will receive their monies until all the schools were covered.
“Those who make judicious use of the money will receive more in the course of the project,” he said.
Responding, the chairperson of SBMC at the LEA Ungwar Kanawa Primary School, Hajiya Tabawa Inuwa, commended the World Bank for the gesture and promised to put the money into good use.
