The 30-year-old midfielder was the lynchpin and dictated tempo in Spain’s midfield to lead Luis De La Fuente’s side to glory. The Manchester City player broke the all-time completed pass record in the World Cup, attempted 729 passes and accurately connected on 692 passes for a 94% completion rate.

According to FIFA, Rodri had 919 high-intensity runs throughout the tournament, the highest total of any player at the 2026 World Cup.
Spain was the only winner on the night, with Pau Curbasi and Unai Simon claiming the Young Player of the Year and Golden Glove trophies respectively.
Pau Curbasi was part of a defence that kept seven clean sheets, while Simon conceded only one goal.
It is the second consecutive tournament the World Cup winning team will have its players win all three individual award, following in the footsteps of Argentina at the 2022 World Cup.
