World Theatre Day: Ajai-Lycette, Oduneye, Osofisan, others bag TFT awards

Theatre artiste, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett; Professor Bayo Oduneye, former Artistic Director of the National Troupe and theatre don Professor Femi Osofisan were among personalities honoured as part of celebrations during the World Theatre Day, by Thespian Family Theatre & Productions, for their efforts in the promotion of theatre arts and entertainment.
Odia Ofeimun, renowned poet; Ben Tomoloju, a writer, journalist, culture activist and actor; and Jahman Anikulapo, a director and theatre teacher artiste were also honoured.
Ayo Jaiyesimi, founder of Thespian Family Theatre & Productions, who honoured the veterans, commended the exemplary roles which they have played in the industry.
She described theatre as part of Nigeria’s entertainment roots, saying, “It allows us to showcase our culture and amazing talents such as the actors that performed and the veterans who did not give up on the industry. I envision the Nigerian theatre industry being recognised globally for its originality and talent base in the next few years.”
