The World Trade Centre, Abuja, has stated that its new Trade Services Department will be dedicating programmes in mentoring young Nigerians on entrepreneurship and international trade.
Vice President of WTC Abuja, Mr Karim Ahmed, made the disclosure in Abuja yesterday during the Children’s Day celebration hosted by the centre.
He said, “We have about 330 world trade centres in more than 150 countries across the world and what we do basically is foster international trade and development. We felt it was worthwhile to carry our young pupils along to learn about what we do in the World Trade Centre, which has to do with international trade, foster collaborations between countries, and promote culture.
“We were at the recently concluded Global Business Forum in France, where we showcased the talents that Nigeria has to offer to the global market. So it is important that we find them young, we educate them, and we’re able to showcase what is possible so that they can aspire to be important people for Nigeria in the future.

“In our Trade Services Department of the World Trade Centre, we have a mentorship programme already in place. We look out for young undergraduates in universities and high institutions who are able to come and learn about what we do, how they can foster international trade and collaboration, and expose what we do in Nigeria to the rest of the world. So that mentorship is already in place.”
Also speaking, the Head of Trade Services Department at the WTC Abuja, David Opeyemi Oke, noted that the centre is hosting the Children’s Day in order to model possibilities for them, especially in facilitating international trade.
