I cannot buy garri brought in from India because we have our locally made garri. I rather use ours because I know how it is being made. I don’t know how they make the one brought in from India or how long it stayed in their ware house over there. I don’t trust it. And this goes also for the rice we are currently using. I prefer to use local rice.

I heard that the garri is just named Indian garri, but that it is prepared in Ghana. We don’t know the truth of the whole matter. I do travel to my home town to buy garri because I don’t even like the one in Lagos. It’s usually fresh and we eat it for about two months. What am I going to do with Indian garri? If I know it’s from there, I will not allow anyone in my house to go near it. How can they be making garri in India? Even from Ghana, I can’t. We have more than enough in Nigeria to eat.

I don’t see any reason why I should buy imported garri while we have it here in Nigeria. They should eat theirs while we eat ours.

Except I am unable to get garri anywhere, I can’t buy the one from India. I just can’t buy. I am concerned about the progress of made-in-Nigeria products. This is important to me. Unfortunately, presently garri is very expensive. There is the white and coloured type sometimes sold at N13, 000, N16, 500 or even 19, 000.

Why should I buy garri imported from India? We produce it here so it’s the least of the items I should purchase from there. I’m certain they don’t produce garri in India. If they do then there is a possibility its genetically modified, which means they use chemicals and it’s therefore not natural.

For me I cannot buy that kind of garri when we have it here. I don’t even understand the purpose of bringing in such a product into Nigeria. Theirs may even be genetically modified.

The question is, do they make it from cassava? How do they make it.? I can’t buy anything I’m not certain of the process involved in making it. Most of these foreign foods are not natural. They always use chemicals.
