Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Geoffrey Okogbaa, who disclosed this in Wukari during the third matriculation ceremony of the institution, said the university has also procured state of the art laboratory equipment and books to boost learning.
Professor Okogbaa appealed to staff who are yet to get theirs to exercise patience as the management is intensifying efforts to procure more so as to make the university an ICT centric institution.
He said the university has built more hostels and lecture theatres for students, award contract for operation of mini cafeteria, built medical centre as well as trained and retrained academic and non academic staff for effective discharge of their duties.
He charged lecturers of the university to always be role models by demonstrating transparent academic uprightness and guide students in research and learning.
“The teacher’s role is not only to inform the students but to encourage and facilitate them to learn for themselves. The increasing availability and use of learning resource materials also brings with it the need for the teacher as a learning facilitator”, he added.
He charged the matriculating students to be hard working and eschew social vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, prostitution, indecent dressing and other unwholesome behaviors that would be inimical to their academic pursuit.
