The Rector made this point while speaking at the Matriculation Ceremony held at the School Campus for 4,907 newly admitted students for National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes.
According to Dr Ladipo, the entrepreneurial studies is compulsory because it was meant to train, right from the first day, all new students, how to be self-reliant after graduating from the school.
Dr Ladipo said:”It is expected that by the time you graduate, you would have acquired the necessary skills to be an entrepreneur and an employer of labour rather than just another job seeker. This is the major reasons we have made it a compulsory course which must be taken by all students throughout your stay in school.”
The Rector noted that Yabatech was the first higher institution of learning to have made the study of entrepreneurial courses for its students compulsory.
She said that the school has also directed students to take courses in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), adding that the course will assist the students to be proficient in the use of computer and other ICT tools.
