The council area also placed third in gymnastics with 34 medals, 11 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze.

NAN reports that athletes in the men and women’s categories competed in 11 event: floor, vault, high bar, uneven bars, pommel, rings, joggle stick, ribbon, ball, power tumbling and back power tumbling.

John Abiodun-Oyewuwo, the Chief Coach, Lagos State Gymnastics Association, told NAN that he was satisfied with the performance of all the gymnasts at the `Ibile Games’.

According to him, most of them show promise to be good ambassadors at the 18th National Sports Festival scheduled for Nov. 27 to Dec. 9 in Lagos.

“I am impressed with their performance despite our challenges of not having modern equipment.

“We will engage them in more training to excel at the National Sports Festival,’’ he said. (NAN)
