Yakasai Model Primary School in Kano municipal local government has emerged the overall winner at the just concluded Kano state models and science primary schools debate held at coronation hall Kano state government house.
The school defeated Yalwa model primary school from Dala with 273 points to emerge as winner in the contest. The topic of the debate ‘child education failure, who to blame,’ called the attention of various stakeholders in the education sector taking into consideration the challenges being faced by the sector.
Receiving the award, Kano municipal local government’s Education Secretary, Malam Idris Abubakar stated that the competition was organized to promote attitudinal change and poster self-confidence among primary school pupils.
“It is indeed very fascinating seeing how the pupils debated and presented solutions to issues that directly affect them. As a stakeholder, I think it is an interesting innovation that we would want to sustain and we must commend the state government for its support to the initiative,” Malam Abubakar said.
