The Kaduna State chapter of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) has elected officials to run its affairs, with Dr Shuaibu Ochetengwu Yakubu, a senior lecturer with the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, as the Chairman.

Other members of the new executive body include engineers Ibrahim Bello, Vice Chairman; Ellams A. Garba, General Secretary; Ojo Emmanuel Adebayo, Assistant General Secretary and Christy Abraham, Financial Secretary, according to a statement from the institution.

The new Public Relations Officer, Engr Suleiman Y. Musa who released the statement, named the other officials as Dr Adaokoma Apasi, Treasurer, as well as engineers Haruna Abubakar, Technical Secretary; Emmanuel Okon, Assistant Technical Secretary; Linus  Adurodija Adeleke, ex-officio; and Ezekiel K. Ayuba, immediate former chairman.

The statement which indicated that the new officials would be sworn in on January 21, said the new chairman, Engr (Dr) Shuaibu Ochetengwu Yakubu was born on November 25, 1970 in Okene, Kogi State and obtained his primary and secondary education from LEA Primary School, Eika-Oku, Okengwe, Okene; and Federal Government College, Minna, Niger State; and then went over to the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering where he obtained his BSc, MSc and PhD degrees between 1988 and 2001, before joining the Nigerian Defence Academy in 2005.
