Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has appointed Hajiya ‘Yardada Maikano Bichi as Commissioner for Women Affairs, as the erstwhile commissioner in charge of the ministry, Barrister Zubaida Damakka Abubakar, takes charge at the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
The governor said the development followed the recent appointment of the former commissioner of budget and planning, Hajiya Aisha Bello, as the new Accountant-General of the state.
He said ‘Yardada Bichi was appointed on merit, urging her to put in her best towards attaining the goals of the administration.
Until her appointment as commissioner, ‘Yardada was the executive secretary of the State Agency for Mass Education.
Meanwhile, Ganduje has signed into law the state Land Use Act 2016. The law, he said, would help to generate additional revenue needed to develop the state.
It encompasses taxes like tenement rates, ground rents and neighbourhood improvement charge, in addition to regularizing operating regulations and procedures for land transactions, among other things.
