Governor Abdulaziz Yari was on Monday returned elected as the governor of Zamfara state for a second term.
Yari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was announced winner by the returning officer Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru after securing 716, 964 votes to defeat former governor Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 201,938 votes. The candidate for APGA Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi came third with 2,385 votes.
Yari won all the 14 local government areas of the state.
In Anka local government APC scored 33,282 while PDP got 10,075. APC defeated PDP in Bakura LGA by scoring 45,477 against PDP’s 11,664.
In the same vein, PDP polled 11, 754 while APC got 43, 379 in Maradun LGA and in Bungudu APC got 66,946 while PDP secured 15, 554 votes.
The other results are 67, 511 for APC and 7, 295 for PDP in Talata Mafara LGA and in Bukkuyum LGA APC got 42,638 while PDP polled 8,833 votes.
In Zurmi local government APC 52,379 and PDP secured. 15,400 and in Birnin Magaji LGA PDP secured 13,892 while APC got 38,548. In Gummi LGA APC has 60,669 and PDP got 5,835 votes.
Similarly,APC won in Shinkafi LGA 23,281 against PDP’s 18,713 and in Tsafe LGA PDP got 15,707 while APC scored 67,917 and in Kaura Namoda APC got 53,699 while PDP secured 14,643. In Maru LGA APC polled 39,757 against PDP’s 13,240.
