The team had lost 0-1 to Premier League side Lobi Stars of Makurdi in Abuja in the Round of 32 of the Federation Cup on Thursday.
The unfortunate incident came a few days after Gombe State Basketball team, Gombe Bulls were robbed in Lokoja on their way to attend a league game.
The Executive Director of Gombe State Sports Commission, Malam Farouk Yarma who doubles as proprietor of the embattled Yarmalight FC said no life was lost on the side of his team but the driver of the other vehicle died right on the spot.
In a statement, Yarma said
 “With total submission to the will of Allahu subuhanahu wata’ala,
I wish to notify you that our players and officials were involved in a ghastly accident yesterday around 5:20am en route Gombe from Abuja.
“ The team was on its way after Thursday’s Federation Cup match against Lobi Stars in Abuja.
 “Thankfully, there was no casualty on the side of Yarmalight entourage,but the driver of the other car died on the spot”.
Yarma, prayed Allah to prevent such ugly incident from happening again.
“Great reward comes with great trials. When Allah loves a people, He tests them, and whoever accepts it attains His pleasure, whereas whoever shows discontent with it incurs His wrath.
“ May Allah prevent future occurrence,” he said.
