The Forum of Small Farmers Association in Nigeria has commended the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani, for what it described as his efforts to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agricultural agenda.

In a statement signed on Tuesday by its Secretary, Mr. Taopheek Babajide, the Forum said Nigerian farmers have long expected NAIC to strengthen access to reliable and affordable insurance products tailored to the needs of smallholder farmers, women-led agribusinesses, and youth cooperatives.

The group noted that farmers desire an insurance agency that is efficient, transparent, and responsive, particularly in the areas of claims processing for losses from natural disasters, pest attacks, and crop diseases, as well as broader coverage for underserved communities.

According to the Forum, Danfulani’s leadership has contributed to improvements in service delivery and internal operations at the Corporation.

It highlighted the prioritisation of digital transformation among the notable developments under his tenure. The Forum said NAIC has begun digitising processes such as policy enrolment, claims management, and farmer outreach—steps it believes will enhance efficiency, promote transparency, and improve nationwide access to NAIC services.

The statement also acknowledged efforts to strengthen governance structures and advance institutional reforms through staff training, improved accountability mechanisms, and human-capacity development.

“These reforms have introduced positive changes to NAIC,” the Forum stated. “Farmers in several communities are beginning to experience a more transparent and responsive insurance process.”

The Forum added that Danfulani’s leadership aligns with the broader goals of the Federal Government to enhance resilience, boost productivity, and support sustainable agricultural growth.

It reaffirmed its support for NAIC’s ongoing reforms and expressed optimism that continued efforts would further strengthen the agricultural value chain and improve outcomes for farming communities across the country.
