YEDC to distribute free meters in N/East

Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) will  i distribute 6000 meters free to its registered customers in four states in the North-East  region.

The Regional Manager of the company, Alhaji Aliyu Abba Aminu, disclosed this in Jalingo Taraba State during stakeholders sensitization engagement, Tuesday.

He disclosed that only  registered customers in Adamawa, Yobe, Taraba and Borno states would get the free meters.

He further disclosed that the meters has started arriving and distribution will start at the end of this  month.

The Manager, also advised people against erecting structures  under high tension electric lines,pointing out that there is danger and hazards involved in doing so.

Aliyu Abba, explained that those residing in houses built under high tension are at the risk of radiation and people should avoid erecting structures under high tension for their safety.

He also appealed to electricity consumers  who are not registered with the company to do so immediately, adding that the company will be able to serve its customers effectively when they are fully registered and pay their electricity bills when and as due.

The Manager,  assured it’s customers of improved electricity supply and appealed for customers to pay their bills and  avoid accumulating bills which make it difficult  for such customers to settle their accumulated bills in good time.

The Manager also discouraged electricity consumers from engaging the services of  unregistered  electrical engineers.

He also  advised electricity consumers to always insist in seeing the identity of any staff that claim to be staff of YEDC adding that engaging services of fake staff was responsible of rates of Vandalisation of electricity equipment.

In his address at the engagement, the Emir of Muri Alhaji Abbas Jidda Tafida, told Yola Electricity Distribution Company to be honest and transparent in billing its consumers.

He assured the support and cooperation of the people of Muri Emirate to YEDC in order to enable the company provide good services to the people.

Stakeholders who spoke at the engagement commended the YEDC for  improved service delivery in Taraba, particularly in Jalingo, the state capital.
