YESSO: NDE to commence skills for job training in 7 states

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) will soon commence the skills for job training at the state level as part of the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO), acting Director General of the directorate,  Mr Kunle Obayan has said. The YESSO scheme is a World Bank project, but the job training component of the scheme has been domiciled in the NDE.

Obayan who made the disclosure  at the training of state Team Heads and officers of Programme Implementation Units disclosed that the training will soon commence in the seven participating states of Oyo, Ekiti, Kogi, Cross River, Bauchi, Niger and Kwara. He explained that the delay in  implementing  the scheme launched in 2013 was  to put adequate structures in place at both the headquarters and states as well as complete the engagement of stakeholders that will facilitate its  success. He said these beneficiaries who are distributed within the seven participating states are now ready for the training. Obayan said the World Bank is providing support to the directorate to implement the Skills for Job in order to have increased access to employment opportunities for the youth and women from poor and vulnerable households.
