Yobe ADC adopts Kassim Gana Gaidam as consensus guber candidate

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Yobe State has adopted Barrister Kassim Gana Gaidam as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

Thisnwas contained in a statement signed by the party’s State Secretary, Mamu Alhaji Muhammad, and made available to journalists in Damaturu.

According to the statement, the adoption followed extensive consultations among party stakeholders and aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party commended aspirants who stepped down in support of the consensus arrangement, describing their action as a demonstration of loyalty, sacrifice and commitment to the unity and progress of the party.

ADC described Gaidam as an experienced administrator, legal practitioner and technocrat with a strong background in public service and the banking sector.

The statement noted that he previously served as Resident Electoral Commissioner with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, pioneer General Manager of Yobe Line, and pioneer Chairman of Yusufari Local Government Area.

It further stated that Gaidam was a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee at the 1994 National Constitutional Conference, which laid the foundation for Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution.

The party also highlighted his experience in the banking sector, where he reportedly held positions including Head of Legal Department, Regional Director and Group Head at Habib Nigeria Bank Limited.

ADC said Gaidam is widely known for promoting unity across ethnic and tribal lines, describing him as “humble, accessible and committed to inclusive governance.”

The party called on its members, supporters and the people of Yobe State to rally behind Gaidam’s candidature ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
