“We have never contemplated removing the deputy governor because there was no basis for removing him. Those who are spreading the rumour are only trying to cause disaffection between the House, the governor and the deputy governor and such people are enemies of Yobe state,”he explained.
The speaker stated this at the weekend while commenting on political development in Yobe State. “It is unfortunate that people will just come out with unfounded rumours and begin to spread them like wild fire, such people are enemies of Yobe ,” He said.
He said both the House and the executive were strategising to “unmask the architects of the mischief” adding that Governor Gaidam and his deputy were having cordial working relationship. “There is no rancour between them”, the Speaker insists.
The Speaker debunked the media report (not in Trust stable) that the purported plan of sacking the deputy governor began in Saudi Arabia during the last lesser Hajj when key government officials held a secret meeting. “That is rubbish, how can we do that in the holy land?” he asked.
