The Yobe State government has completed the construction of four modern sesame seed processing factories aimed at boosting the socioeconomic development of the state.

Abdullahi Bego, the state’s Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, disclosed this during a press briefing in Damaturu following a state executive council meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni. 

According to Bego, the factories, located in Machina, Nguru, Potiskum and Damaturu local government areas, are equipped to clean, process and package sesame seeds to meet international standards. 

“These factories will enhance sesame seed processing and packaging while generating employment opportunities and contributing significantly to the state’s economy,” Bego said.

He also noted the governor’s optimism regarding the completion of several legacy projects under the current administration. 

“Among these projects are the Potiskum Modern Market and the Ngalda and Yunusari markets, which are at 90% completion and the Geidam Modern Market, currently at 75% completion. Despite earlier delays, work on the Potiskum Truck Transit Park is also progressing well and is now 90% complete,” he added. 

The commissioner emphasised that the state government remains committed to completing and commissioning these projects within the year to further drive economic growth and development.
