The administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni has constructed 148 healthcare facilities and over 500 kilometres of roads across Yobe state in the last seven years, according to the Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Mohammed Goje.

He disclosed this during a press briefing held at Government House,  Damaturu, on Friday.

The briefing was to mark the seventh anniversary of the Buni administration.

Goje said the achievements reflected the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens through sustained investments in critical sectors, including healthcare, infrastructure, education, security and economic development.

He said since assuming office in 2019, the administration had pursued policies aimed at strengthening institutions, promoting peace, expanding infrastructure and enhancing human capital development.

According to him, the government has completed 143 out of the 178 focal Primary Healthcare Centres being constructed across political wards in the state.

He added that five general hospitals had been upgraded to specialist hospitals, while modern Mother and Child Referral Centres were established to improve access to quality healthcare services.

On infrastructure, the acting SSG said the administration had constructed and rehabilitated more than 500 kilometres of roads to boost transportation, agricultural activities and rural connectivity.

He listed some of the major projects to include the ongoing Damaturu Flyover and Underpass Bridge, Damaturu-Kalallawa Road, Damaturu-Gambir Road, Waziri Ibrahim Bypass, as well as other strategic road projects spread across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Goje also highlighted achievements recorded in the areas of security, agriculture, housing, water supply and rural electrification, saying the administration had continued to consolidate peace and drive development across Yobe.

He said more than 48,000 students were currently benefiting from the state’s scholarship scheme, while thousands of youths and women had received empowerment support through various government intervention programmes.

Responding to questions from journalists, Goje assured residents that the administration would sustain ongoing projects and programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of the people.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to building a prosperous, peaceful and economically resilient state.
