The Yobe State Government has distributed motorcycles worth N15 million to vigilantes and members of the National Association of Scrap and Waste Dealers Employers (NSWDE) for security patrols in hard-to-reach areas.
The motorcycles were distributed to the members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in the insurgency-affected LGAs of Gujba, Gulani, Tarmuwa and Geidam.
The Special Adviser to the Yobe State Governor on Security Matters, Brigadier General Abdulsalam Dahiru (Rtd), flagged off the distribution.
He said the motorcycles were to facilitate the vigilantes’ access to the difficult terrains while patrolling the hard-to-reach areas, including terrorists’ hideouts.
He added that the use of the motorcycles during the rainy season could overcome the challenges of difficult terrains faced by the military, police and other security agencies.
