The Yobe State Government has disbursed a total of N162 million to 810 Islamic scholars across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Babagana Malam Kyari, disclosed this to journalists at his office in Damaturu, the state capital.

He explained that Governor Mai Mala Buni approved the distribution of N200,000 each to Chief Imams of Juma’at mosques and pastors across the state.

He said the gesture is aimed at supporting religious leaders in the face of the current economic hardship in the country.

Kyari further revealed that the state government sponsors a number of Islamic scholars to Makkah to offer prayers for peace and harmony in the state and the nation at large.

He added that, as part of efforts to support religious activities, the governor annually provides Sallah rams to Chief Imams of Juma’at mosques in the state capital, Damaturu.

He also noted that the administration has extended various forms of financial assistance to over 3,000 orphans across the 17 LGAs.

Kyari reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Buni’s administration to continue supporting religious leaders, as well as providing financial interventions to orphans and widows in the state.
