The Emir of Gudi in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Isa Bunuwa Maiduguri Ibn Khaji (Mai Gudi), is dead.

Family sources told Daily Trust that the emir passed away at Nizamiye Hospital, a private clinic in Abuja.

“He passed away after a brief illness at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja. He died in his 70s, leaving behind four wives,” the source said.

The Secretary of the Gudi Emirate Council in Gadaka confirmed the Emir’s death.

According to the Secretary, funeral prayers for the late Emir have been scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, at 2:00 p.m., at the Emir’s palace in Gadaka.

Daily Trust gathered that the deceased was the first Emir of Gudi in Fika LGA, Yobe State.

He was among the 12 emirs appointed by the late Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim in 1992. 

The Gudi Emirate is predominantly inhabited by members of the Gamo ethnic group, who are mostly farmers and traders.
