Yobe gifts 47 vehicles, 50 motorcycles to security agencies, vigilantes

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has presented 47 operational vehicles and 50 motorcycles to various security agencies and vigilante groups in the state.

Presenting the vehicles to the security agencies, Governor Buni said the move was aimed at stepping up government efforts towards supporting them to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.

According to him, to maintain law and order throughout the state, it has become necessary to provide adequate logistical support to security agencies.

He further said the logistics will ease the movements of security operatives on routine patrols or when responding to distress calls from citizens of the state.

He added that the vehicles will be allocated to Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), the Nigerian Army, DSS, Immigration Service, Civil Defence, NDLEA, NAPTIP, and NAFDAC to enhance their day-to-day operations.

He also said the 50 motorcycles will be allocated to the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Airport Security team, and vigilante groups.

He, however, directed the local government chairmen to maintain the vehicles attached to Divisional Police Officers in view of the high cost of maintenance of the vehicles involved in security operations.

In his remark, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brigadier General Abdulsalam Dahiru (Rtd), said the state government is paying a monthly stipend to heads of security agencies to enhance their operational capability.
