The Yobe State Government has recruited 948 primary school teachers to boost primary education in the state.

The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alh. Umaru Hassan Babayo, confirmed this on Monday shortly after meeting with Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Babayo explained that the new recruitment is to fill existing gaps in manpower needs in the primary schools.

“Most of those recruited were volunteer teachers who had been teaching in schools as volunteers without formal engagement by the state government.

“The board is organising workshops for the recruits to acquire additional skills in teaching for effective and efficient dissemination of knowledge to the pupils.

The chairman charged the new teachers to justify the government’s confidence in them.

He assured that the board would intensify inspection to ensure productivity and for the government to get value for its money.
