The Yobe State Government has officially launched a 3-year strategic plan for Human Capital Development, aimed at reducing poverty in the state.
The plan is focusing on education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and job creation, with priority on healthcare and education.
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, launched the project at the Wawa Hall, Government House, Damaturu on Wednesday.
Represented by his deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, the governor noted that the plan marks a significant milestone in harnessing the demographic potential of the youth population and investing in their future.
He further said the Human Capital Development project was initiated in 2018 by the National Economic Council to address poverty and promote economic growth.
He added that a recent survey shows that Yobe’s youthful population (15-65 years) accounts for 65 percent of the population, presenting an opportunity for economic growth.
The National Chairman, Human Capital Development, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu, commended Yobe for setting goals and creating a plan, reiterating the National Office’s commitment to poverty reduction and job creation.
