Yobe Hisbah arrests 84 over immoral acts, prostitution

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has arrested 84 individuals, both male and female, on allegations of prostitution and immoral acts.

Dr. Yahuza Hamza, the Chairman of the Commission, confirmed the arrests to journalists in Damaturu, the state capital. 

He stated that the suspects were apprehended during a joint security operation in the Walawa community of Garin Alkali town, in the Bursari Local Government Area.

Hamza noted that several arrests were made and alcoholic beverages were seized during the operation. He further explained that the goal of the operation was to curb “immoral and antisocial activities that harm the moral fabric of society.”

According to the chairman, a large consignment of alcohol, equivalent to four truckloads, was confiscated. 

The 84 individuals arrested included 50 women and 34 men. All houses involved in the alleged acts have been sealed.

Daily Trust learned that all suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in court in accordance with the state’s laws.
