The Yobe State Hisbah Commission said it resolved 565 disputes in the last 12 months in the state.

The commission was established in March, 2024 by Governor Mai Mala Buni as part of efforts to address social vices in the state.

Dr Yahuza Hamza Abubakar, the chairman of the commission, said the resolved disputes include those concerning issues related to family, business, inheritance, community and debts.

He said others include those bothering on the farmers/herders clashes as well as unpaid rents.

According to him, most of the cases were resolved amicably through reconciliation and understanding.

Dr Hamza said the operatives of the commission also confiscated 56 cartons of alcohol and 18 fosters of methylene chloride chemical (Madarar Sukurdai) across the state.

He said Islamic religion and the law establishing the commission in 2024 prohibited the sale and consumption of beer and other intoxicants in the state.
