The Yobe State government has pardoned 30 inmates who were remanded in five correctional facilities for various offences.
Alhassan Sule Mamudo, the Chief Information Officer, confirmed this in Damaturu.
He said the pardon was granted based on the advice of the state’s Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy led by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Saleh Samanja.
He said the council had before the release of the inmates visited Potiskum, Nguru and Gashu’a correctional facilities to ascertain those who deserved to be pardoned.
