A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by Gana Lawan and 26 others,  challenging the position of Yobe State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sani Inuwa Nguru.

Justice Binta Nyako ruled that the election of the Nguru-led executive executive followed the laid down procedure in the cancellation of May 10, 2016 and reconduction of the congress of 8th August, 2016 in the state. 

Consequently, Justice Nyako dismissed all the reliefs sought by the plaintiffs and affirmed the Nguru-led executive committee as authentic PDP executive in the state.

It may be recall that late last year Alh Lawan Karasuwa filed a similar suit at Yobe state high Court challenging the leadership of Sani Inuwa Nguru but the court struck out the case in favour of Nguru and awarded a penalty of 50,000 against the plaintiff.

Alh Sani Inuwa Nguru leadership of the PDP is  said to be loyal to Adamu maina waziri – a member of PDP board of trustees  while Alhaji Gana Lawan faction is allegedly backed by a serving Senator from Yobe State who has been funding the legal cost. 

Reacting to the judgement, a PDP chieftain and member representing Nangere/Potiskum Federal Constituency, Hon.  Sabo Garba  commended the judgement, describing it as a victory for the Party and democracy.

 

He urged parties involved to  bury their differences and forge a common front for the unity, cohesion and success of the party at all levels.
