The Yobe State government has procured 2,000 metric tons of assorted grains for the strategic reserve to be distributed to Yobe people during the off-season, or in case of emergencies.
The commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali Mustapha Goniri, stated this to newsmen when he conducted an inspection of the assorted grains recently procured by the state government.
Speaking to journalists during the inspection, the commissioner expressed optimism about the initiative, emphasising that the 2,000 metric tons of assorted grains would be distributed to Yobeans during the off-season or in case of emergency.
The commissioner revealed that the government has also procured assorted agrochemicals, which will be distributed to support irrigation farming and vegetable cultivation.

He further highlighted plans to provide cassava stems to farmers to promote cassava farming in the state. Cassava, he noted, serves as a raw material for flour, medicinal purposes, and natural food ingredients.
The commissioner commended the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni for its unwavering commitment to and support for the agricultural sector in the state.
